Wow. As of Friday, they said we got 18 inches of rain, so that's nearly two feet of rain in the last two days! It's breaking all records and today you really couldn't go to too many places because so many roads were closed or completely washed out due to the flood waters.
The house is ok 'cause while we have a flat yard, we're still kind of up on a hill and there's run-off in the yard. Some of the neighbors weren't so lucky who live further down the street, though. They're up high enough to avoid deep standing water, but flowing water did a number of some basements and garages. Just below is a cell phone video I took of people behind and two doors down from us, and how their sloped yard coped with the runoff of water - they got 5 inches of water in their basement (click the play arrow to watch it)....
Here's a photo (below) that I took of the swamp that's next to our parking lot where I work. Normally, the water is down a hill about 15-18 feet lower than the street level. Today I stood on the edge of our parking lot and took this of how high the water is - just about spilling over into our lot. (click pic to see a larger view)...

So far, no major "critters" have made their way up from the swamp into the parking lot, but I'm waiting for them. Ugh. Anyway. That's it for now. The rains have slacked off in my area of town, but they say the waters will rise for another day or two as the creek runoffs accumulate. We'll be ok at the house.
Oh, here's a couple of pics I took off the news sites of flooding on the interstates and around my area of roads being washed out, though..
